Trauma Healing Yoga Certificate Program
This 60 hour Certificate Program is for current teachers of yoga who wish to begin to teach Trauma Healing Yoga. Teachers with an RYT will earn Continuing Education Units for this course as well as receive a certificate documenting their course hours.
This Certificate Program is offered in three 20-hour Modules.
Modules must be taken in consecutive order.
Participants in this certificate program will learn:
- how to define PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
- the physiology of trauma and how yoga can be beneficial
- how to create a safe space for healing.
- boundaries and the teacher-student relationship
- lesson planning for trauma healing classes including how to start up a class specifically for trauma healing or PTSD.
- how to modify existing yoga classes to make them sensitive to the student healing from trauma or PTSD.
- how to introduce breath practices (pranayama) and mantra to students
- philosophy/psychology of the Yoga Sutra-s applied to trauma healing.
Pre-requisite: 200-RYT or equivalent (or be currently enrolled in a 200-hr yoga teacher training program.)
Each module meets over a weekend. Meals, lodging and travel not included. (Housing assistance can be provided, please inquire.)
Admin Fee for 60-hour Certificate: $250. Payable to SCHYS (half payment ($125) due at beginning of program, the other half ($125) due before certificate is issued.)
Fee for each Module payable to the Yoga Studio or Center where the Module takes place (NOTE: in 2012 all modules will take place at Dragonfly Yoga Studies in Ft. Walton Beach, FL) Please register for individual modules on dragonfly's website:
Fee per module: Early-bird registration for Module 1, $295 by April 2nd, 2012. After that date, fee is $350.
